Die Gründe hierfür sind vielfältig. In den meisten Fällen haben die Kinder in unterschiedlichen Formen und zu unterschiedlichen Personen der Herkunftsfamilie Kontakte.
Aus rechtlicher Sicht besteht für die leiblichen Eltern des Kindes grundsätzlich sowohl das Recht als auch die Pflicht zu Besuchskontakten mit ihren Kindern. Eine Einschränkung dieser Kontakte ist rechtlich nur dann erlaubt, wenn das Wohl des Kindes in Gefahr ist.

In dieser Hausarbeit sollen Umgangskontakte der Pflegekinder mit ihrer Herkunftsfamilie thematisiert werden. Dabei wird der erste Schwerpunkt auf die gesetzlichen Grundlagen der Besuchskontakte gelegt, da diese den Ausgangspunkt für alle folgenden Aspekte darstellen.
Im folgenden Teil werden Möglichkeiten der Gestaltung von Umgangskontakten in der Praxis kurz erläutert und abschließend wird der Fokus auf mögliche Auswirkungen dieser Umgangskontakte auf die Pflegekinder erörtert.
